Met Quarter - Liverpool City Centre

Main Contractor - Carillion Building

Main Architect - Edmund Kirby Architects

Project Summary
The Met Quarter is a glamorous shopping development featuring top designer names such as Timberland, Armani, Hugo Boss and Costa Coffee. Quality of design was therefore critically important to our client. The Met Quarter stands on the site of the old Post Office which is incorporated within the new complex. Sympathetic cladding and louvre design now complement the old and new facades.

The situation of the building presented a number of logistical challenges including scheduling material deliveries and evening hoisting. Through effective management and by working closely with our project partners we delivered the job on schedule and within budget.

This landmark project was included in the Top 100 RIBA buildings in 2006 and was nominated for the Best Building in RIBA award.
